What We Love
Now, before we delve into detail, we know there may be some confusion out there what's with the many different HALO BassiNest models that are available in the market.
The one we are focusing on today is the Swivel Sleeper from the Essentia Series - HALO BassiNest's best selling model to date.
For a thorough breakdown of the distinction between the different models though, you may want to read here our halo bassinet reviews.
Swivel 360 Degrees
We cannot get past reviewing the Swivel Sleeper without first mentioning its 360-degree swivel feature.
Indeed, this may be the most talked-about aspect in many bassinest reviews but who can blame them? It is the very first and probably only baby bassinet in the market that is able to do so.
Why is this such a big deal you may ask? Well, let's just say the convenience it brings to mothers is like no other.
First of all, you get to have baby sleep literally next to you, but without the risk that is associated with co-sleeping because baby still has his very own separate sleeping space.
You can tend to your baby's needs whenever need be and soothe him when he fusses in the middle of the night without having to get up from your own bed.
The swivelling can double up as a rocking feature as you can create a gentle rocking motion that is found to greatly calm babies down.
By being able to rotate, it also makes getting in and out of bed so much easier because the bassinet will not get in the way.
The latter will be more prominently felt for mothers who breastfeed or for mothers who have done a c-section recovering from childbirth because you can swivel it to your convenience.
Patented Lowering Bedside Wall
Complimenting that to being the best newborn sleeper is the brand's patented lowering bedside wall feature.
You see, the side wall of the Swivel Sleeper can be lowered to make it easier for you to tend to baby.
It will automatically return back to its upright position so you don't have to worry about forgetting to pull it back up each time.
If desired, you can even lock it in upright position for maximum security.
The mesh side walls will give you full visibility of baby inside while generating better breathability and ventilation.
All these make the HALO BassiNest Swivel Sleeper the best bassinet for c section, or basically for all recovering mothers with limited mobility and nursing mothers because you literally do not have to get out from the bed to tend to your baby.
Like the Milliard, this co sleeper bassinet is height adjustable. What's different, is that the HALO Bassinest has a slightly greater range from 22" - 34" so it should be able to fit beds of any height.
Which is really essential when it comes to co-sleeping with baby because you will want your bedside co-sleeper to be just that - right next to your bedside, with no difference in height and no gap in between.
The base tucks easily under the bed so it doesn't take up too big a floor space.
In fact, it is regarded as one of the best bassinet for small spaces because it requires only 32" clearance from the wall. That's impressive if we're talking about bedside bassinets.
Now you know why it is such a top rated co sleeper?
Convenient Storage and Waterproof Mattress
The HALO BassiNest Swivel Sleeper comes with a waterproof mattress pad and a removable, coordinating fitted sheet.
The former is made of JPMA-certified non-toxic flame retardants waterproof polyurethane while the latter is 100% machine-washable polyester.
The sides of the bassinet are made of polyester as well so you can easily wipe it clean with a damp cloth.
Adding to its convenience is a side storage pocket for you to keep baby's essentials close by.
Do not underestimate this small aspect - you will be so grateful to have that one baby product so handy just right there in the middle of the night.
Though we wish it'd be more like the Milliard in that there are more pockets in the latter (this one here only has one on a side), we note the limitations the Swivel Sleeper has with its all-around mesh design.
Which is not bad at all too, considering you get so much more a ventilated sleeping space for your little one.
Thing to Note
Now this is a heavy bassinet. If you're thinking of moving it from room to room, this will not be ideal (instead, try this which is a lighter but also excellent bedside sleeper).
Incidentally, it is not the best travel bassinet because this one here is close to 50 pounds by itself. Not just because of its weight, but this is not a foldable bassinet so if you need to pack it up, you will have to disassemble it. That will be just too much a hassle.
It is not just us that think the Halo Bassinest Swivel Sleeper is the best baby co sleeper - the CJ Foundation for SIDS itself has recommended it to be one of the safest alternatives to bedsharing .
It has since improved with two new prints now: Morning Mist and Nautical Nest.
