Two Modes for Easy Sleep
Yes, this portable bassinet here has dual stationary and rocking modes so you can actually rock your baby to sleep in it.
If you don't already know, babies fall asleep easier and quicker when they are swayed gently from side to side.
You won't need to do so with your arms, incidentally eliminating the risk of waking baby up when you transfer him to the crib from your arms - a common problem that plagues so many parents that trust us, you will want to avoid it if possible.
Sturdy Frame & Safe Materials
The MiClassic is made of aluminium which is both strong and lightweight.
As a result, you get a travel bassinet that is strong enough to support a weight of up to 35 pounds, yet the bassinet itself weighs less than 16 pounds only.
The tall sides with rounded corners give a safe enclosure to your little one because you won't need to worry about baby rolling out the cot as with some bassinets with lower walls, and the rounded corners ensure your baby will not hurt himself no matter where he rolls to.
The inside of the bassinet is airy and well-ventilated, thanks to the use of see-through and breathable mesh on all 4 sides.
And this is something we wish to clarify for the crib. It seems that there has been some concerns that the MiClassic is not entirely made of mesh after its upgrade.
In particular, it was said that the material behind the cross braces (or where the legs are) is made of non-breathable material.
We've done a thorough examination of the bassinet cot because we take safety issues very seriously here at Mommy Tea Room. After all, SIDS due to hazardous products are real and we certainly do not want to risk your little one.
Here is the area in question, zoomed up close. As you can see, it is the same mesh material running across the crib that is covering these cross braces (or leg frame).
They are see-through, they are breathable. There is no blind-spot so you can rest assured that their is no breathing hazardous present in this travel crib with bassinet.
If that is not enough a reassurance, know that the MiClassic is compliant with the applicable regulations, rules, bands and standards under CPSIA as well as any other acts enforced by the CPSC.
Easy Assembly & Travel Friendly
In terms of portability, the MiClassic is very easy to pack up.
It has what it boasts a "one-second open & fold system" where all you do is a quick pull up of a belt and the bassinet will fold itself up automatically.
Here's a quick video to show you how to set it up and take it down in seconds:
Things to Take Note Of
Nevertheless, the MiClassic travel bassinet crib is not without its downsides, albeit not safety related.
Like the Infans 2-in-1 Travel Crib, the MiClassic has a shorter usage-span and that, has nothing to do with poor quality or whatnots.
You see, the MiClassic Crib leans more towards being a bassinet rather than a crib so it is comparatively smaller than the average travel crib.
As a result, babies outgrow it sooner than they do with standard travel cribs that typically last from 0-3 years.
Nevertheless, as it is extremely spacious inside, the MiClassic will last until baby is around 8 months or so (by experience). That's still more than the average bassinet's 0-6 months though.
Another thing is that the MiClassic is not height adjustable.
It stands 28 inches off the floor which makes it a good height to park alongside your bed for a co-sleeping arrangement.
But unlike the Infans, you cannot lower it closer to the ground for when baby gets older.
Even if baby can still fit inside, it is time to stop using it once you notice baby starting to pull himself up because there is a chance of him toppling over. This has nothing to do with how sturdy the crib is built, instead, it is because it sits much higher up from the floor.
The MiClassic 2-in-1 Rocking One Second Fold Travel Crib is one of the best travelling bassinets in the market that is lightweight, durable and reasonably priced.
Not many bassinet can support a weight like the MiClassic does, incidentally, not many allow you to use it up to 8 months or so. Definitely an excellent travel crib with bassinet that we will not hesitate to recommend!
