BEST STROLLER WAGON OVERALL

Editor's Rating: 4.7/5.0
4.7/5

Dimensions: 39 x 27 x 45 inches
Weight: 34.7 pounds
Age recommendation: 6 months to 5 years
Weight Limit: up to 55 lbs. each seat

Why We Love It

You know the drill – when it comes to selecting our best overall in any category, we look for the perfect balance between price and performance. In that regard, the Evenflo Pivot Xplore All-Terrain Stroller Wagon hits the brief with all-rounder features and a reasonable price point, making it the best wagon stroller for most families especially those with younger children.

This is because it can accommodate kids as young as 6 months (unlike others who need to wait till 12 months) and the comparatively petite size is good for travel. It has a footwell to keep dirty shoes away from where the children sit and with a flip of the handle, you can turn it into a push wagon stroller in seconds.

In fact, it pushes like a regular stroller so it is easier to steer and turn compared to other stroller wagons. On the same note, it folds like one without having to remove all the accessories, speaking of which, essentials like a snack tray, storage basket and two canopies are included so you don’t have to fork out extra money for them.

Things To Take Note Of

Compared to other wagon strollers, storage space inside the wagon is on the small side but that is necessary to keep the overall size compact. The added storage basket underneath the stroller cart and on the side are sufficient to keep all the essentials anyway, in most cases.

And while it navigates fine on a variety of different surfaces, sand is something it probably struggles a little with (especially super soft ones) so it didn’t make it to our best all-terrain stroller wagon cut (for that, it is the one below).

VERDICT: The Evenflo Pivot Xplore All-Terrain Stroller Wagon is ideal for families who are not looking to drop a small fortune on a stroller wagon. Easily transform it into a travel system by adding a car seat or toddler seat with adapters for flexible seating arrangements.

BEST ALL TERRAIN WAGON STROLLER

Editor's Rating: 4.7/5.0
4.7/5

Dimensions: 37 x 25 x 23 inches
Weight: 32.5 pounds
Age recommendation: 0 to 5 years
Weight Limit: up to 55 lbs. each seat (total child weight limit 110 lbs.; cargo capacity 300 lbs. – no kids on board)

Why We Love It

The Veer Cruiser Stroller Wagon comes very close to being the best overall if not for its slightly higher price tag (which makes it probably not the one for everybody). If you have a bigger budget though and are looking for the best wagon stroller for all terrain, this is the one we’d highly recommend.

A push and pull wagon that locks the handle in upright position and rotates downwards for easy pushing and pulling respectively, its oversized tires and front-wheel suspension glide like a dream on sand, snow, mud and rocks. We have yet found a terrain that this incredibly rugged wagon stroller cannot handle, and you can even push it alongside like a modern luggage using the same adjustable handle.

If you like the folding of the Evenflo Pivot Xplore, you will love the one-handed compact fold of this one here – it fits even in the boot of a Mini, and can be gate-checked like a stroller (on most airlines). Despite the compactness, its capacity is nothing less than other competitors (2 kids, 55 pounds each) and it holds up to 300 pounds of cargo load with no kids on board.

What impresses us most though is its infant car seat compatibility – it accepts almost all major brands’ so you can easily turn it into a wagon with infant seat. Crafted from military-grade aluminium with water-resistant features that can be hossed off after dirty adventures, we love how it is customizable with add-ons to suit your needs (the nap system, toddler seat and airplane travel bag are particular favourites).

Things To Take Note Of

Despite being on the pricier side, this is not a stroller wagon with canopy. You’ll have to buy it separately so we’re a bit disappointed with that, but the brand has a very good retractable one here. Likewise with the car seat adapter, you’ll have to get it separately if you wish to turn it into an infant wagon.

VERDICT: For the most active and adventurous family looking for the best wagon stroller for all-terrain that will veer them through (pun intended) snow and sand, the Veer Cruiser is the one to go for.

BEST AFFORDABLE STROLLER WAGON

Editor's Rating: 4.7/5.0
4.7/5

Dimensions: 42 x 27 x 44 inches
Weight: 41.7 pounds
Age recommendation: 6 months to 5 years (or from birth with compatible infant car seat)
Weight Limit: up to 55 lbs. each seat (total child weight limit 110 lbs.)

Why We Love It

For a stroller wagon that doesn’t set you back quite as much as others on the market, you’ll certainly love the Baby Trend Expedition 2-in-1 Stroller Wagon PLUS. A push pull wagon that sits two kids over 6 months or one baby and one older child if you pop on the included universal car seat adapter, it pretty much has everything you need (and a little more).

One of the coolest features that set this best affordable wagon stroller apart from others is its hideaway pull handle. An innovative patented design, it is stored underneath the stroller cargo so all you do is just pull it out when needed (and slides it back in when you’re done). It comes with an extra cushion that transforms into a mat for your child to lie down comfortably, otherwise, fold and use it as extra padding for the seats.

At this price, it is a delight to find that it comes with an extra-large ratcheting canopy (with air-flow mosquito netting!), parent and child trays (with center consoles and 2 cupholders), extra cup holders outside the wagon, and a flip over basket (that can be used either at the front of back of the wagon).

Things To Take Note Of

The Expedition 2-in-1 Stroller Wagon PLUS is relatively large and heavy so it can be challenging to manoeuvre, especially in smaller spaces or crowded areas. Although the wheels are easily removable with the press of a button, some users find the folding mechanism less straightforward and cumbersome for a quick setup and storage process.

And while it is an all terrain stroller wagon, it may not perform as well as others in certain outdoor conditions/challenging terrains. The non-adjustable handlebar may pose less convenience for parents of different heights, too.

VERDICT: It does have a few drawbacks but the Baby Trend Expedition 2-in-1 Stroller Wagon PLUS also offers features that are typically found in more expensive models so budget-conscious parents may appreciate the value it provides. For an even more affordable stroller wagon that’s under $200, check out the brand’s Expedition Stroller Wagon.

BEST FOLDING STROLLER WAGON

Editor's Rating: 4.6/5.0
4.6/5

Dimensions: 34.3 x 20.5 x 41.7 inches (folded size: 22 x 14 x 9 inches)
Weight: 22.26 pounds
Age recommendation: 6 months to 5 years
Weight Limit: up to 55 lbs. each seat

Why We Love It

This foldable stroller wagon that is the EVER ADVANCED Travel Wagon Stroller has a one-step fold that makes it fit into most overhead bins on airplanes or trains. Need we say more? AND it comes with a carry-on appropriate travel bag that you can use as a large tote bag for extra storage when not in use.

Probably the only folding wagon stroller of its kind, it makes for the best travel wagon stroller especially when it weighs just slightly over 20 pounds. An auto-lock design will keep it from spreading out in the folded state and it has a rear zipper storage pouch to store the canopy once removed.

The PU wheels (which are more durable and stable than traditional plastic or rubber wheels) with anti-shock system and 360-degree rotating front wheels make it one of the best all terrain strollers, and each wheel has its own brake so it is easy to lock and stop the wagon anytime. The stroller cargo sits up to 2 kids with a maximum of 110 lbs., and there are both 3-level shoulder harness straps and 5-point seat belt harness to ensure the kids’ safety.

Things To Take Note Of

This is not a push stroller wagon so you are limited to only pulling it behind you, but the good thing is it is height-adjustable. It cannot accommodate infant car seats as well so you’ll have to wait till baby is able to sit up unassisted before you can use it.

It also doesn’t come with a storage basket but that’s understandable given its need to keep things minimal for its cabin-appropriate compact fold. On the same note, there is no child tray or cup holders but we can understand how the lack of storage may pose some inconvenience for snacks and drinks on the go.

VERDICT: If you travel often and need a stroller wagon that can be easily transported, the fold-into-bag design of the EVER ADVANCED Travel Wagon Stroller can be a valuable feature for packing and convenience. It otherwise makes for a great 2 seat wagon for trips to the market or family outings where you need a compact fold for easy transportation.

BEST DOUBLE STROLLER WAGON (LUXURY)

Editor's Rating: 4.7/5.0
4.7/5

Dimensions: 23.5 x 15 x 33.5 inches
Weight: 59 pounds
Age recommendation: from 6 months
Weight Limit: up to 99 lbs. per bench (2 seats per bench), total weight capacity: 300 lbs.

Why We Love It

A luxury ride for four, the WonderFold W4 Luxe Quad Stroller Wagon is so popular you’ll often see people searching for a ‘Wonderfold wagon dupe’. Of course, the original is still the best. Boasting a total weight capacity of 300 pounds which is probably among the highest out there, it is very easy to push and steer around despite the weight (and size), all thanks to the all-terrain wheels.

There are 2 benches holding 2 seats each on opposite sides and each seat is higher-facing and reclinable. The whole carriage basket is deeper than others so kids have a deeper footwell, dirty shoes kept away from where they sit (and most likely, eat!). All seats are removable so you can easily turn it into a camping/beach wagon for yourself when they have outgrown the double stroller wagon.

Some luxury features include magnetic buckles on the harness, a front zippered door for easy in and out, and a slide-able and removable canopy with height-adjustable rods. All sidewalls are integrated with breathable mesh for good ventilation and there are plenty of storage capacity – apart from a detachable rear basket, there is also a seat pouch and back panel pocket, and there’s extra storage on all sides of the double wagon.

Things To Take Note Of

Like the EVER ADVANCED, this 4 seater wagon stroller is a push wagon only (a fully-loaded quad stroller wagon wouldn’t be the easiest to pull anyway). The height-adjustable vegan leather handlebar makes it more ergonomic though so even if it is only a push wagon for toddlers, it is still the best push wagon.

There’s no getting around the fact that it is HUGE though and with the size, comes the associating weight. The good thing is, it is fairly easy to fold (and stands on its own when folded) but it will still take up considerable space so that’s something to keep in mind. The price isn’t the friendliest, too.

VERDICT: For families who have more than 3 close-in-age children that they need to cart around frequently, the WonderFold W4 Luxe is the best wagon for you. The price may be slightly steep but it’s a worthwhile investment if you have a big family. For a slightly cheaper 4 seat wagon stroller, check out the Larktale Caravan.

BEST 4-SEATER STROLLER WAGON (MORE AFFORDABLE)

Editor's Rating: 4.4/5.0
4.4/5

Dimensions: 40 x 33 x 48 inches
Weight: 50.6 pounds
Age recommendation: from 6 months
Weight Limit: up to 55 lbs. each seat; total weight capacity: 300 lbs.

Why We Love It

If the WonderFold is out of your budget, we have another 4 seat wagon stroller for you in the form of the Keenz 7S+ Ultimate 4-Passenger Stroller Wagon. This one here has a friendlier price tag and is a push pull wagon for those who like to have their options, dual leather handles on both ends.

Compared to the wagon stroller for 4 above, it is slightly smaller and lighter but it shares the same maximum 300 lbs. cargo capacity in utility wagon mode so you can fit a lot in this one. Storage compartments are aplenty with 4 internal pockets for organizations, 2 external zippered pockets for added security, and a cooler storage bag to keep your drinks cold. There’s even a ventilated shoe storage to keep dirty shoes outside and away from the carriage!

We like the built-in sun shades of the Keenz 7S+ here. The sides can be pulled down to keep things nice and cool inside, and the total privacy is great for diaper changes aside from keeping noise to a minimal.

Things To Take Note Of
Although it is lighter and smaller than the WonderFold, it doesn’t take away the fact that it is still a heavy and bulky baby wagon with canopy so it can be a bit challenging to handle and manoeuvre. The folding of it is also relatively complex so it will need some practice to get used to the process, and it may not perform as well as specialized an all terrain wagon stroller on challenging paths.

VERDICT: The Keenz 7S+ Ultimate 4-Passenger Stroller Wagon is one of the best stroller wagons for larger families or parents with multiple young children. It comes in a 2 seater wagon design too for those that are interested.

BEST STROLLER WAGON WITH CAR SEAT ADAPTER

Editor's Rating: 4.7/5.0
4.7/5

Dimensions: 46 x 29 x 46 inches
Weight: 46.6 pounds
Age recommendation: from birth (with infant car seat) or 6 months up
Weight Limit: up to 55 lbs. each seat (total 110 lbs.)

Why We Love It

You don’t have many wagons with car seat attachment, at least, not those that readily come with adapters but the Delta Children Jeep Deluxe Wrangler Stroller Wagon is exactly that – a stroller wagon with car seat adapter that works with all Graco, Evenflo, Britax and Chicco car seats. Which about really, are some of the best infant car seats on the market.

Because of that, you can tow your newborn right along with an older child in this stroller wagon to all your outings. The inside of the wagon is spacious so you can use it to haul all your gear to any activity when not transporting kids, and we like how it comes with a detachable cooler bag which speaks of its multi-use beyond a toddler wagon! It folds up pretty compactly and we like the auto lock latch that secures an easy transport/storage.

Other storage includes a parent organizer with 3 compartments and front zipper pocket, 1 parent cup holders, and large front and back storage pockets. The UV-blocking canopy is slightly different here in that it is one whole fabric on the top with roll-down shades on the side and it fits in the storage pocket when not in use.

Things To Take Note Of

This baby stroller wagon is easy to steer and turn in general with swivel front wheels but our testing shows that it doesn’t work as well on sand despite having all-terrain puncture proof airless tires (scroll down for the ultimate beach wagon). The adjustable leatherette handlebars on both ends give an ergonomic grip though so it is still a comfortable venture pushing or pulling it around.

VERDICT: The Delta Children Jeep Deluxe Wrangler Stroller Wagon is the best baby wagon for parents who plan to bring their newborn out right from the early days to join their activities. The one price is all you pay (and a reasonable one at that) – there’s no need to fork out additional money for adapters and the likes.

BEST WAGON FOR BABY AND TODDLER

Editor's Rating: 4.7/5.0
4.7/5

Dimensions: 25 x 16 x 42 inches
Weight: 35 pounds
Age recommendation: 6 months to 5 years
Weight Limit: up to 75 lbs. each seat

Why We Love It

We make sure we provide enough variety in our selections to cater to parents of different preferences so here’s another wagon for baby and toddler, this time in a double canopy design which the two baby wagons above (that accommodate car seat) – the Expedition and Wrangler – aren’t.

The Gladly Family Anthem2 2-Seater All-Terrain Wagon Stroller can comfortably transport one baby and one toddler in a push and pull wagon across terrain of all kinds with its full suspension system and the handlebar is height-adjustable for parents of different heights. The large double canopies have breathable mesh inserts to them and they zip close for total sun, wind and rain protection on those extreme days.

It accepts an infant car seat but you’ll have to purchase a car seat adapter separately. It otherwise comes with a stowaway mattress that converts the interior into recline mode but tuck it away underneath if you don’t need it. Storage options come in the form of four interior mesh pockets, a parent cup holder and container with lid, and a double snack tray and child cupholders.

One of the lightest weight wagons available, it folds flat and stands by itself when folded for easy transportation.

Things To Take Note Of
The seat harnesses are three-point instead of five so they provide a little less support for younger riders.
VERDICT: If you like the double canopy design that zips up completely (instead of those roll-down ones), the Gladly Family Anthem2 2-Seater All-Terrain Wagon Stroller will fit just the bill.

BEST COMPACT WAGON STROLLER

Editor's Rating: 3.8/5.0
3.8/5

Dimensions: 59.45 x 23.23 x 34.9 inches
Weight: 32 pounds
Age recommendation: 4 years and up
Weight Limit: up to 55 lbs. each seat; up to 300 cargo capacity with no kids onboard

Why We Love It

If there is ever a small wagon stroller, it will have to be Joey The Wagon. Don’t get us wrong, it certainly isn’t tiny but it could very well be the smallest stroller wagon you can ever find on the market.

It is also one of the lightest stroller wagons but the lightweight didn’t jeopardize its cargo capacity. Seats up to two of a maximum 55 pounds each, the sturdy build enables it to carry up to 300 pounds of cargo without passengers and it even has a footwell to provide extra legroom for passengers. The oversized all terrain wheels ride smooth on all kinds of surfaces, with front-locking wheels aiding to the off-road adventures.

Folding is pretty intuitive after which it boasts to fit in any car trunk (even that of a Mini Cooper!), and it can be gate checked like a stroller on most airlines just like the Veer. Still not enough room to stow away? Pop the wheels off – that should do the trick. And for a stroller wagon of its size, we’re impressed with the storage compartments it manages to fit – that’s a child’s tray, cupholder, inside pockets, storage basket and even a key holder.

Things To Take Note Of

Alas, the small(er) size doesn’t transcend to its price. It’s not the most expensive, but it certainly isn’t the most price-friendly either. Despite that, it comes with just one canopy so you’ll have to purchase a separate one for your second passenger. Likewise with the car seat adapter – you’ll have to buy it separately to fit an infant car seat onto it.

VERDICT: Joey The Wagon is the ultimate travel stroller wagon for families who frequently travel and need a versatile and convenient option for their kids. It is also the best stroller wagon for those living in the cities.

BEST WAGON STROLLER FOR BEACH

Editor's Rating: 4.7/5.0
4.7/5

Dimensions: 34 x 25.5 x 47 inches
Weight: 34.7 pounds
Age recommendation: 6 months to 5 years
Weight Limit: up to 55 lbs. each seat

Why We Love It

Rounding up our stroller wagon reviews is the BOB Gear Renegade Foldable Stroller Wagon, a wagon stroller for 3 that you don’t see often (it’s always either a stroller wagon for 2 or 4). It is the latest creation from everyone’s favourite jogging stroller brand, and it certainly didn’t disappoint.

Featuring large, rugged XtraMile tires that help get a grip on uneven or slippery terrain, this 3 seater wagon makes for the best stroller wagon for beach. The ever-famous suspension system that everyone loves is present here as well to alleviate bumps and bounces, and the push and pull manoeuvrability is every bit exceptional as you’d expect from a BOB Gear stroller. You most certainly won’t feel like you’re driving a stroller wagon from the way it steers and turns, that’s for sure.

The three-seater configuration sits two on a double bench on one side and one on the single opposite with a snack tray in the middle. It’s not the most compact but it’s much less bulky than a 4-seater. Besides the two adult cup holders and side mesh pockets, we like how it readily comes with two canopies so you don’t have to buy one separately.

Things To Take Note Of

Assembling the Renegade is not the most direct/straightforward but once you’re done, it gives the fastest and easiest fold with just one hand in three easy steps. Unfolding it is even better – just push the foot pedal and the back seat pops up into place. You don’t even need to use your hands!

This is a wagon for toddlers only (not car seat compatible) so it is not suitable for infants.

VERDICT: If you love going to the beach with your little ones but no stroller wagons seem to live up to the game, give the Renegade a try – it may just the best stroller wagon for sand you’ve been looking for!

How We Choose Our Best Stroller Wagons (and the things you should look for)

When choosing a baby wagon stroller, it is essential to consider several factors to ensure it meets your family’s specific needs. You want one that is safe and comfortable for your little one(s), that is also easy to handle and manoeuvre for yourself.

Here are the key features and factors to look for when choosing a kids wagon (these are also the backbones that guide our stroller wagons picks above):

Seating Capacity

Perhaps the very first thing you should think of when shopping for a wagon stroller is: do you want a 2-seater, 3-seater, or 4-seater? That will instantly shrink the pool for you, so determine the number of children you will be transporting. Larger ones are of course great for growing families or older children, but smaller two-seaters are easier to navigate through narrower areas.

Age Range / Infant Compatibility

How far apart in age are your little passengers? Some models are better for toddlers and older children, while others may cater to infants or a wider age range. Not all stroller wagons accommodate car seats so if you need a wagon stroller with infant seat, be sure to choose one with that compatibility.

Wheels and Suspension

While most stroller wagons have large wheels and reliable suspension systems, some are more so than others. Think about where you plan to use your stroller wagon the most and select a model that can handle the terrain effectively, whether it’s grass, sand, gravel, or smooth pavement.

Size and Weight

Stroller wagons will be big but some are like, really big. Examine the baby wagon’s dimensions when folded to make sure it can fit in your vehicle for transportation or storage. For those keen on a travel wagon, know that there are options that fold into a bag for the ultimate portability. It will be worthy to check the weight too if you think you’ll be lifting it often.

Safety
Check for features such as secure harnesses or seatbelts for children (either three-point or five-point) and the brake/wheel lock system – the latter should be easy to access to keep the kids wagon stroller stationary. Make sure the overall construction of the frame is sturdy and pay attention to the stroller wagon’s weight limit to ensure you don’t over-carry.
Price

The best wagons for kids do not come cheap, especially if they have specific points of excel (think specialized all-terrain strollers like the Veer Cruiser, or luxury features like the Wonderfold). That said, there are less expensive ones which equally get the job done without breaking the bank.

Durability

Is this just an occasional thing for a year or two or do you plan to use your stroller wagon for years through multiple children? While we’d say all of our picks above are of good quality, there is still a difference when it comes to durability with some being more robust than the others. So, factor the kind of use you’ll be subjecting your stroller wagon to when making your pick.

Accessories
One fun thing with these wagons for kids is that you can customize yours with a bunch of accessories. Think canopies, cup holders, parent and child trays, custom sidewalls, extra storage etc. – if this is something you’d fancy, find out what yours entail.

Do You Need A Stroller Wagon?

While stroller wagons may offer a unique combination of features that can be advantageous in certain situations, they are not necessary be essential for everyone. Well, it certainly cannot replace your everyday stroller so you may wonder: do you actually need one? Are kids wagons worth it?

Contrary to belief, there are actually certain circumstances where owning a stroller wagon can make your life a little easier and you may get more use out of it than anticipated. Here are some considerations to help you decide if a stroller wagon is worth it for your family:

When a Stroller Wagon Might Be Worth It:
  • You love the great outdoors. If you plan on spending a lot of time strolling around the park or hitting the beach, or if you live near a beach, lake or trail, a kid wagon stroller is actually very fitting for your lifestyle with their sturdy construction and all-terrain wheels.
  • Large families/multiple children. Stroller wagons are ideal for families with multiple children. They can accommodate up to 4 children simultaneously which isn’t something your everyday stroller can manage (even if yours can, have you tried pushing one before? No thanks.). It’s certainly more convenient than using multiple strollers!
  • Your children are quite apart in age. If you have a baby and an older child who is past the stroller stage but is not quite there yet (you know, the awkward transition period where they’re also not ready to walk independently 100% of the time), a wagon with car seat attachment is a great solution.
  • Versatility. If you’re looking for a versatile mode of transportation for your children, stroller wagons offer functionality beyond traditional strollers. They can serve as a stroller, a wagon, or even a portable play area, making them versatile for various activities. The ample storage space is a plus too, especially for longer outings.

On the other hand, if you only have one child, live in an urban environment and rarely venture into outdoor settings that require all-terrain capabilities, or you have limited need to transport multiple children simultaneously, a stroller wagon might not be necessary. Baby wagons are, after all, generally more expensive than standard strollers so if it’s just for the occasional outdoor use, a jogging stroller may suffice in this situation.

At the end of the day, the decision to invest in a stroller wagon should align with your family’s specific needs and how you plan to use it. Consider your lifestyle, the ages and number of your children, the terrain you’ll encounter, and your budget before deciding whether a stroller wagon is a worthwhile addition to your baby gear.

Other FAQs

Some stroller wagons are designed to accommodate infants with features such as a full recline option, infant inserts, or compatibility with infant car seats. If they have any of these, then they are generally safe for infants.

It’s not that easy to find a stroller wagon with infant car seat as those that can accommodate one is usually through the use of adapters (some come with it while others need you to purchase separately). If you have an infant car seat, check if it is compatible with the wagon – some only accept car seats from the same brand while others can accommodate different brands, and then there are those that don’t accommodate infant car seats at all.

Always make sure that the car seat is securely attached to the wagon following the manufacturer’s instructions.

While the idea of carting your little one around in a kid wagon at a place like Disneyland sounds like the best of plans, sadly, their size well exceeded the limit permitted. In fact, any stroller larger than 31” in width and 52” in length is prohibited – for Disneyland, you’ll need your umbrella strollers.
